Highview appoints Peter Jones as Chief Executive and strengthens executive leadership team

London, May 19, 2026 – Highview, a global leader in long-duration energy storage (LDES), today announced the appointment of Peter Jones as Chief Executive Officer as the company accelerates delivery of its long-duration energy storage projects in the UK and internationally.

Peter Jones brings more than 25 years of senior leadership experience in the energy sector, with a strong track record of scaling major energy projects and delivering complex infrastructure programmes. Most recently, he served as CEO of Neptune Energy, leading a business of 1,500 employees across eight countries. He has also held senior positions at TAQA and Marathon Oil.

His appointment comes at a pivotal time for Highview as the company progresses its Carrington facility and advances its wider pipeline of LDES developments. Highview plans to deliver 6.4GWh of long-duration energy storage capacity across the UK, supporting the country’s ambition to achieve a clean power grid by 2030 and as it moves toward establishing the long-term market frameworks needed to scale LDES, including through the cap and floor mechanism.

Highview has also appointed David Gibson as Chief Operating Officer and David Hemmings as Chief Commercial Officer.

David Gibson previously held COO and Technical Director roles at IOG, Ithaca Energy and Marathon, bringing extensive expertise in delivering complex energy infrastructure projects from development through to operations.

David Hemmings brings more than 25 years of experience across energy and corporate finance, including six years on the Executive Committee at Neptune Energy. His expertise in capital markets, joint ventures and strategic transactions will support Highview’s commercial growth ambitions.

Colin Roy, Chairman and Co-Founder, said:

“With Peter’s strong track record in delivering large-scale energy infrastructure projects, he is the ideal person to lead Highview into its next phase of growth and commercial deployment.

The UK is positioned to be a world leader in long-duration energy storage, with increasing recognition of the role it will play in delivering a resilient, low-carbon power system that can underpin national security and independence.

With the Carrington facility progressing and our next 3.2GWh LDES facility at Hunterston already underway, Peter’s experience will be invaluable as we scale delivery of our long-duration energy storage programme.

Alongside David Gibson and David Hemmings, our refreshed executive team brings a proven history of building and delivering major energy infrastructure projects, which will be a tremendous asset as Highview enters its next chapter.”

Peter Jones said:

“Long-duration energy storage is becoming essential infrastructure for resilient, affordable and low-carbon power systems. The UK has some of the world’s best renewable energy resources, and long-duration storage will be critical to capturing that power and delivering a resilient, low-carbon electricity system.

Highview’s liquid air energy storage and grid services technology is uniquely positioned to support a cleaner power grid both in the UK and globally, and I’m delighted to be joining the business as Chief Executive.”

Peter Jones succeeds outgoing Chief Executive Richard Butland, while David Gibson succeeds outgoing COO Craig Muir.

Colin Roy added:

“Richard Butland and Craig Muir have played an important role in Highview’s journey to date, and we wish them well for the future.”
